Saskatchewan Polytechnic refreshes Leading the Rise strategic plan

The new strategic plan will guide Sask Polytech from 2026 to 2030

April 2, 2025 – Saskatchewan Polytechnic shares its refreshed Leading the Rise strategic plan for 2026-2030. This updated strategy builds upon the foundation of the 2020-2025
plan, incorporating insights and feedback from students, faculty, staff, partners,
Indigenous advisors, alumni and other stakeholders to shape a comprehensive plan for
the next five years.

The plan holds true to Sask Polytech’s values of respect, integrity, sustainability
and excellence. It remains focused on Sask Polytech’s mission, vision and purpose,
which serve as anchors for new strategic objectives that ensure students receive the
education and hands-on learning opportunities they require for success in their future
jobs, in their communities and in life.

“This refresh reaffirms our purpose of empowering a better Saskatchewan and amplifies
our vision of leading the rise of polytechnic education,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, Sask
Polytech president and CEO. “I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone
who contributed to this updated five-year strategy that will bring us to 2030. Your
dedication to ensuring success in every learning journey is truly commendable. At
Sask Polytech we will continue to train Saskatchewan’s workforce and shape the industries
and communities of tomorrow.”

Sask Polytech stands as the sole polytechnic in Saskatchewan and serves as the province’s
leading institution for applied post-secondary education and research. Offering hands-on
programming across the credential spectrum—including certificates, diplomas, degrees
and apprenticeship training—Sask Polytech ensures its graduates are job-ready for
the industries that fuel growth and wellbeing. Over 90 per cent of Sask Polytech graduates
secure jobs and choose to remain in Saskatchewan. Through applied research partnerships,
the institution accelerates innovation, commercialization and knowledge transfer.

“This refresh also emphasizes our pursuit of miyo wâhkôhtowin (good relationships)
and embracing Indigenous ways of knowing and being, continuing the important work
of reconciliation,” says Dr. Rosia. “As we work towards reconciliation, Sask Polytech
is committed to providing the supports Indigenous students require for success while
acknowledging with deep respect past and present contributions of Indigenous peoples.”

New 2026-2030 strategic objectives include:

  • Enhance culture of learner success
  • Power Saskatchewan’s economy with skilled graduates and applied research
  • Create dynamic and innovative learning environments
  • Embrace and uplift Indigenous ways of knowing and being
  • Excel in learning and the development of our people
  • Foster equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging
  • Increase agility and responsiveness of governance processes

To achieve Sask Polytech’s 2030 objectives, annual operational plans will be developed.
These plans will outline the projects and activities contributing to strategic objectives
across the institution. Key performance indicators for each objective will be monitored,
with results reported in the annual report.
