Set to close on Tuesday, April 29, the survey aims to capture feedback from the public on the four goals set out within the proposed strategic plan.

The goals outlined include economic prosperity, healthy and safe community, responsible development, and municipal excellence, and responses to the survey will help inform the county in making decisions on how best to prioritize and meet these goals while reflecting what is most important to community members.

In recent Facebook video update Mayor Rod Frank encouraged residents to have their say; “Make sure you do the survey. Tell us what services are important to you — fire, police, transit, (Recreation, Parks and Culture), roads.”

Approved in December 2022, four key pillars of county’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan included:
1) Responsible development, which completed goals to make the county an innovative community that respects the environment and encourages sustainability,

2) Economic prosperity, which saw the municipality focus on capitalizing on the strength of its industrial, agricultural, and business sectors while advancing economic diversity and growth.

3) Municipal excellence: Being a leader as a municipality to move the community forward by means of high-level services delivered by “engaged and empowered employees”, and

4) A healthy and safe community; Being a safe and supportive community that is healthy, active, connected and thriving.

Those four directions seem to lay the foundation for the next four-year plan, according to the four directions detailed in online County Voice survey.

The municipality relies on the feedback of residents to help shape projects, services, and programs to meet the needs of the community.

“The Strategic Plan is Strathcona County’s map that plots our journey to becoming Canada’s most livable community,” said Jennifer Cannon, associate commissioner of the county’s Corporate Services. “Our community’s needs grow and change every year, shaping Strathcona County’s projects, programs, and services. By planning what the county and council will focus on over four years, our goals and work can better meet our community’s needs.”

Updating the Strategic Plan over the next year, input from residents, businesses, and organizations will help guide the work done by the county and Strathcona County Council. Following the updates, the new strategic plan will be presented for approval by county council in December 2026.

After completing the survey, participants will have the opportunity to be entered to win a $100 gift card.
