The German club, Borussia Dortmund is undoubtedly the best managed club in world football for at least the last decade and this is shown by the huge lucrative deals over the years.
Erling Haaland will end his time at Borussia Dortmund this summer by completing a move to Manchester City.
The 21-year-old has become the latest in a long list of players whose star has risen to incredible heights during their time at the German club.
Haaland arrived for 20 million euros
Haaland will complete a €60 million move to the Etihad Stadium, which is less than the release clause Mino Raiola had inserted into his contract.
The Norwegian arrived in Dortmund for 20 million euros from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020 and now the profit from his sale is a full 40 million euros plus bonuses.
Lewandowski cost 4.7 million euros
Robert Lewandowski joined Dortmund in 2010 after the German club paid Lech Poznan just €4.7 million for his services.
The Polish striker enjoyed a stunning rise at Signal Iduna Park before moving to Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer of 2014.
The arrival of Dembele in 2016
Another fine piece of business from Dortmund came in the summer of 2016, as the German club signed Ousmane Dembele from Rennes for €35m.
Twelve months later, Barcelona made a €140 million bid for the attacking winger, who then completed a move to Camp Nou.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed for Dortmund in the summer of 2013 in a deal worth €13m from Saint-Etienne.

Alexander Isak was playing for AIK in Sweden when Dortmund paid €8 million to sign him in 2017.

Jadon Sancho left Manchester City’s academy in 2017 to join Dortmund in a deal worth €8 million.

In 2011, Dortmund completed the signing of central midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Nuremberg for €5 million.

Mats Hummels’ career has consisted of moving between Bayern Munich and Dortmund.
The centre-back joined Dortmund from Bayern’s academy in 2009 for €4m, before returning to Munich in 2016 for €35m.
In 2019, Hummels returned to Dortmund in a deal worth €30 million, where he is still playing.
Winning by Mkhitaryan
Henrikh Mkhitaryan signed for Dortmund in 2013 after the German club paid €27m for his services.
Three years later, Manchester United completed a deal to sign the player for €42 million, but the Armenian did not enjoy the same level of success at Old Trafford.
Gotze’s rapid rise
Mario Gotze began his career in Dortmund’s academy and established himself as one of the best young players in world football before signing for Bayern Munich in 2013.
That deal was worth €37 million and the highlight of his career came a year later when he scored the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina.
Sahin ended up at Real Madrid
Nuri Sahin emerged as an outstanding young player during his time at Dortmund, having come through the club’s academy.
In the summer of 2011, Real Madrid signed him for 10 million euros, but injuries meant that he was unable to shine at the Santiago Bernabeu.
